A big time drain to the week around here is grocery shopping. If we have to pick up just a few items, it’s not bad, but more often then not it’s WAY more than that! So, I looked into grocery delivery and grocery pick-up. Turns out, there is a grocery store around here where you shop on-line ~ they do the grocery shopping for you ~ you drive down and pick it up ~ they load ~ you drive home. All for $4.95. WHAT??? you say! Yes, I know, unbelievable. I’d say an hour and a half of mine and my kid’s time is worth at least that. Visit Harris Teeter dot com and go to the store locator to see if there is a participating store near you.
If there isn’t, don’t despair! With a quick search online or a phone call to your local grocery stores, you could probably find something similar in your area for a reasonable cost. In a search that I did, I found that Safeway, Giant and Stop & Stop all have delivery services ~ which are a bit more expensive ~ but still only $6.95-$7.95. Not bad.
Actually, by doing it this way, I save quite a bit because there are no impulse buys! That’s a pretty big one for me ~ especially if I’m hungry. So, if you’re looking to save a big chunk of time ~ look into express lane shopping for your big grocery shopping trips. It may just be worth it!
